WE GIVE YOU MORE at the University Store at the Student Union. Your books are worth more than you think. We know you have a lot of choices when buying and selling your textbooks. We only hope you will make the choice to buy them and sell them back to the one store that gives you more – in more ways than one! Following are only a few of the reasons you should do business with the University Store.
40% USED BOOKS
The University Store supports recycling and giving students more opportunities to
save than any other store in town. Everyone knows buying used books is cheaper and
we aggressively work to provide as many used textbooks as possible. During the spring
2011 semester, 40 percent of the textbooks offered in the University Store were used
books compared to the national standard of only 22 percent.
2,884 WIFI CONNECTIONS
Students today want to be constantly connected. The University Store recognized this
need and helped fund the cost of wireless throughout the Student Union as well as
the five e-mail kiosks. Each week thousands of students access this valuable resource
and the University Store is proud to have helped keep students connected during their
time at OSU.
4,267 COWBOYS IN TRAINING
Since its inception in 1999, more than 4,200 OSU students have participated in the
Camp Cowboy experience. Participants have fostered new friendships and developed a
true passion and loyalty for the university. The University Store is proud to play
a part in the program by assisting with administrative costs associated with Camp
Cowboy as well as many other programs and services offered through the Department
of Campus Life.
1,310 BUTTS IN SEAT
Students need a place to take a break from their busy schedules. Thanks to the generosity
of the University Store. OSU students have comfortable areas to study, meet, rest
and relax. Lounges, outdoor seating and other informal gathering areas all are funded
in great part by University Store revenue. It's just one more way the University Store
brings life to campus life.
12K VISITORS EVERY DAY
With more than 12.000 visitors each day, the Student Union is one of the busiest buildings
on campus. Its 611,000 square feet of resources make it the world's largest and most
comprehensive student union. Home to everything from shopping to dining to lounge
spaces to student services, it is no wonder the Union receives more than 1.5 million
visitors a year.
56 LBS. MAPLE SYRUP
Each Finals Week students line up Monday through Thursday evenings in the Student
Union Food Court for a helping of hot pancakes with all of the fixings including syrup,
peanut butter and strawberry topping as well as free beverages. Since May 2005, OSU
students have been served more than 47,000 pancakes at this biannual University Store
supported event.
200+ EXCITING EVENTS
Each school year Student Union Activities Board, the programming board for the Student
Union, hosts more than 200 events. These events vary in scale as well as interests
and most of them are free. SUAB works diligently to provide students with fun out-of-the-classroom
experiences. Members of SUAB also gain valuable leadership and event planning skills.
None of these events would be possible without the complete financial support of the
University Store.
450+ STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
While the University Store gets you ready for life in the classroom, it also supports
activities that occur outside of the classroom. University Store revenues assist with
administrative costs associated with running many of the student organizations housed
in the Department of Campus Life. With more than 450 student organizations to choose
from, students have the opportunity to experience OSU on all levels.
